Biography Leonardo
Gandulfo
is a born dancer and considers
himself a citizen of the world. He has a mixed
heritage of French, Azteca and Spanish. From his youth, he has been
exposed to Afrocuban music, culture and dance and it continues to be his
passion and life work. He
as many years of experience in the management and planning of cultural,
musical and social events. He has worked organizing national and
international touristic and recreational events and in particular,
planning Latin nights and private and public events at various resorts,
clubs and restaurants. Since he is also passionate and involved in the
culinary arts, he understands the hospitality and tourism industries and
the art of customer service. Leonardo
Gandulfo’s dance experience is extensive. In the 80’s, when Salsa
became more popular than ever, and expanded from New York to Latin
America and to the entire world,
Leonardo became involved in an independent movement called “Latin
Revelations” whose objective was to spread the world of Salsa among
the new generation. In the early 90’s he participated in various dance
workshops and competitions in Latin rhythms in California. Leonardo
has been teaching dance for several years. In St-Petersburg, Florida, he
formed part of a team of instructors at Fred Astaire Dance Academy
whereat he taught ballroom dancing. Following his passion for music and
Latin rhythms, he went to Habana Cuba where he experienced the essence
of Afrocuban roots and picked up new teaching techniques. Thereafter in
Montreal Canada, he taught Salsa Classes for the Tony Rausseo studio and
for YMCA’s. Leonardo also lived in Barcelona where he was involved in
the teaching of Salsa and learning Flamenco dance. Leonardo uses a special approach and application
when he teaches beginners and has mastered the art of teaching the
lead-follow dance form. He understands the techniques and skills
necessary to add excitement and joy to dancing. His own Rumbero/esquina
style contains both Suave and Rhythm. Leonardo dances with the passion
of his heart. He remembers what it is like to learn a new dance. He has
patience and compassion in his instruction.
Also he believes anyone can learn to dance given time, commitment
and a little patience. His sense of humour is uniquely suited for
partner dancing and will always bring a good laugh. He is a life long
student of dance, and is continually discovering something new. His
vision is that everyone young and old, of every ethnic heritage can
enjoy and appreciate the magic of Salsa and Latin rhythms music and
dance.
